Developing my Storyboard and Animatic

I took the advice of my tutor and improved my proposal and developed it into an animatic to demonstrate my plans more effectively.

Once I viewed my animatic I realised improvements I needed to make immediately. The introduction part seemed to take up a lot more time than the main part with the man and the woman. Therefore I decided to cut down the time spent watching the man walking towards the button and extend the time with the man and woman. This would then delay the time before the laughing giving it more effect.

The man would experience a few more emotions while in his situation: Excitement at getting something for free, Inquisitiveness showing he knows something is not right, Frustration/ anger leading into disappointment, finally ending up embarrassed.

I will add more emphasis onto the part where he is about to press the button as he has the dilemma between right and wrong. The environments will remain quite plain and simple to enable the location to remain mysterious.

Finally, I am working on a stronger message to appear on the screen at the end, ‘Don’t Compromise on Quality, Always Get The Real Thing’ is a possibility.

Simulated Client Project

Final Year starts and I’m straight into a short project. The brief is to ‘Produce a short multimedia piece that informs about or illustrates Digital Piracy’.  I researched various areas of Digital Piracy that I found interesting and started to decide whether I wanted to be for or against piracy. I came up with a few different ways to solve the brief but didn’t really like any of them. I found it quite difficult to come with an idea I liked so quickly. However, I then developed a new idea that I thought would be effective and that I could put my skills to good use. Here is my inital proposal.

Pixilation Development

In preparation for making my pixilation I took a journey from here to Leeds and made notes about various things which occurred throughout the journey which I could include in my work.

I planned using sketches and notes using a step by step approach so I knew exactly what I would need to do to create my pixilation.

I planned each station using sketches and notes, making changes to each one so that people could tell I was getting older as the journey went on. I wanted to use a collaged style like Terry Gilliam’s which I have spoken about in a previous post, however I decided to use white board, 3d and photos instead of his exact style.
The last few pages are quite empty as I haven’t quite decided on the final details. As I create the pixilation I will add notes to my sketchbook developing my ideas constantly until the pixilation is complete.
