Some changes to environment

I have been making changes to my environment after speaking to my client. Also I’ve started adding lights into the scene (only some of the shots have the appropriate lighting in at the moment). It’s not going as badly as previously so hopefully lighting the rest of the shots will be ok.

Environment Progress

I am pleased with how my environment is progressing (still need to add lights in but leaving that for now). I wanted to make sure all the textures are right before attempting to get my lighting right again.

New Worm

I decided to change the texture of my worm so I unwrapped it and used Mudbox to create the new look.

Worm Model Update

I have changed my worm slightly because there were far too many polys and not all were quads. I’ve ensured this worm is a better quality model and have unwrapped it for Mudbox so I shall be changing the textures. I want to create more of a coloured in look for my characters and the environment.

Redoing the Model

I’ve decided to learn how to model in Maya for this project so I have started my model again ( because it looked rubbish) and have been getting to grips with the modelling tools in Maya. They’re actually quite easy to use once you find them and it’s not as difficult as I thought. However modelling takes ages and is really long but I am slowly getting there with my character.

Modelling the Worm Character

So I’ve got to the stage where I need to start modelling my characters and have realised that I haven’t modelled since almost a year ago for the second year project. And now it’s really hard! I’ve never modelled in Maya and it’s quite confusing so I’ve gone back to 3ds Max for the time being. But because I’ve been using Maya I’m now not used to Max and it’s all confusing. Modelling is going to be difficult and take ages…

Airport is finally coming together!

All my old posts are on my other blog tracking the progress as I have been working on it- http://sophie-magnante.blogspot.com/

I have added in lighting using a daylight system and omni’s for the inside of the buildings. I think I have achieved the airy and spacious feel I wanted to give my airport and the art works well throughout. A lot of the furniture is functional but also arty. I have ended up going for the theme of human bodies throughout the airport with many features representing a person and life drawing’s in frames throughout (these aren’t very clear at the moment but I have sorted the contrast so they will be clearer with my final render)  There are a few things left to change but the camera’s are all in place and ready to be rendered out very soon! Exciting!

Toilets

Here is the progress I have made with the toilets for my airport.

The toilet area is created within a half sphere building and has curtains as the entrance. I will be able to place this sphere in any section of the building and have exactly the same bathrooms throughout.

To keep the same feel throughout the whole building the hands and feet are present on this chair and table.

I have started to apply textures the this area to see what it looks like and then once it looks good I can have a complete area and move onto the next rather than several incomplete areas.
